Aprender gramática inglesa paso a paso

Present Simple y Present Continuous

Present Simple

subject + base verb / verb + -s (he, she, it)

She works in Salamanca. · Classes start at 5 p.m.

Present Continuous

subject + am / is / are + verb-ing

They are studying for the exam. · I am meeting my teacher tomorrow.

Pista: con always puede expresar una queja: “He is always losing his keys.”

Past Simple, Past Continuous y Past Perfect

Past Simple

We visited London last year. · She went home early.

Past Continuous

subject + was / were + verb-ing

I was cooking when the phone rang.

Past Perfect

subject + had + past participle

The film had started before we arrived.

Futuro: will, going to y formas continuas

Will

subject + will + base verb

I will help you. · I think it will be useful.

Be going to

subject + am / is / are going to + base verb

Planes previos o predicciones basadas en evidencia presente.

Future Continuous y Future Perfect

will be + verb-ing · will have + past participle

At 8, I will be revising. · By June, she will have finished the course.

Present Perfect y Present Perfect Continuous

Present Perfect

subject + have / has + past participle

I have lost my notes. · We have lived here since 2021.

Present Perfect Continuous

subject + have / has been + verb-ing

She has been studying for two hours.

Usa for para duración y since para el punto de inicio.

modal + base verb
  • must / have to: obligación. You must wear a helmet.
  • mustn’t: prohibición. You mustn’t smoke here.
  • should: consejo. You should practise every day.
  • can / could: capacidad, permiso o posibilidad.
  • may / might: posibilidad. It might snow.

Después de un modal no usamos to ni terminación -s: “She can speak”, no “She can speaks”.

Conditionals: cero, primero, segundo y tercero
Zero: If + present, present

If you heat ice, it melts.

First: If + present, will + base verb

If it rains, we will stay at home.

Second: If + past, would + base verb

Third: If + past perfect, would have + past participle

English is spoken in many countries.

The project was completed last week.

The results will be published tomorrow.

Incluye by + agente solo cuando sea relevante: “The novel was written by…”

Reported speech: estilo indirecto

Direct: “I am tired.”
Reported: She said (that) she was tired.

Direct: “Do you like coffee?”
Reported: He asked if I liked coffee.

Direct: “Sit down.”
Reported: She told me to sit down.

No uses said me. Se dice said to me o told me.
